About the Artist
Artist's Statement

I have always enjoyed the outdoors. I was taught to canoe, camp and fish by my father. Fishing has taken me to beautiful places, created some of my best memories, provided meals and campfire camaraderie I still share. Living in Hawaii & Oregon, salt and freshwater fish territories combine to create a wide spectrum of colors, tastes and habitats to explore.
'Fish Tales' is a conceptual series I created 25 years ago. I began resampling it in 2008 believing it was a perfect match for digital media. Elements of reality are juxtaposed with absurd fish people creating an artistic satire of humanity. The flexibility of the digital process allows me to explore many alternative approaches to image design immediately. I often use photographic sources coupled with inspiration and experiential knowledge to achieve my visual goals.
Fish Tales by Wes Bogner is a series of digital art prints using the latest archival media and ultra-chrome pigment inks, (the same as used by digital photographers). Protected from UV exposure and environmental contamination these print will last decades, (laboratory tests have confirmed 75+years). All prints are further protected with surface sealer enhancement.
I have found fish are a perfect vehicle for expressing some part of my inherent and perhaps warped view of the world. I enjoy provoking thought as well as laughter.
- In a fish-eat-fish world it doesn’t matter if you’re a vegetarian but it makes you taste different.
